Dr. NGP Institute of Technology and Dr NGP Arts and Science College jointly organised the NGP Empowerment Award Ceremony on 19th January 2026 at the NGP Conference Center.

The event aimed to motivate students to pursue their academic goals with dedication and integrity. It sought to recognise meritorious students for their outstanding academic achievements while fostering a culture of academic excellence, lifelong learning, and leadership.

Udaya Sankar, Director, NASSCOM, and Co-Founder, Maatram Foundation, Chennai, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and presented the awards and scholarships.

Nalla G. Palaniswami, Chairman, Dr. NGP Research and Educational Trust, presided over the event along with Mathura V. Palaniswami, Trustee.

Saravanan, Principal of Dr. NGP Arts and Science College, welcomed the gathering and Prabha, Principal of Dr. N.G.P. Institute of Technology, delivered a brief report on the statistical data of the scholarships awarded for the current academic years.

Buvaneshwaran, CEO of the Trust; Natesan, COO; and Muthuswamy, Director of Academics, NGP, were also present.

Nalla G. Palaniswami, in his address, stated that the initiative aims to empower students financially and remind them of their responsibility to be beneficial to society. He remarked that meaningful change in society must begin from within, and added that these initiatives are intended to ignite that change among students.

He urged students to upgrade themselves by upskilling through available government initiatives such as skill development programmes. Sharing a personal experience, he recalled receiving a scholarship of Rs. 4, which he said he could never forget, as it had greatly supported him during his student days.

He expressed confidence that the initiatives of NGP would positively transform students’ mindsets and, in turn, contribute to societal development. He concluded by encouraging students to work hard to achieve success and noted that the awards and scholarships provided by NGP serve as a motivating force to help students become valuable contributors to society.

The Chief Guest, in his keynote address, emphasised the transformative power of education, the significance of upholding cultural values, and the importance of purposeful and value-driven learning. He urged students to remain grateful to their parents and highlighted the importance of developing networking skills, describing them as a valuable asset for future success.

He further advised students to love themselves, be self-confident, and remain humble and grounded, noting that these qualities are key to success and have played a vital role in his own achievements. He also stressed that, along with knowledge and skills, adaptability is essential to thrive in today’s fast-paced technological world.

His insightful words deeply motivated the students and instilled a renewed sense of aspiration and commitment towards academic excellence.

The major highlight of the event was the presentation of the awards and scholarships. A total scholarship amount of Rs. 9,00,00,000/- (Nine Crores) has been awarded to 4,530 academically outstanding and sports-excelling students for the academic year 2025–2026.

The NGP Empowerment Award Ceremony provided a meaningful platform to nurture academic enthusiasm and personal development, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to recognising excellence and inspiring future leaders.
