The PG and Research Department of Commerce at Shri Nehru Maha Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science (SNMV) recently organized an ICSSR-sponsored one-day National Seminar on the topic “Digital Transformation in Financial Services: Today & Tomorrow” at the college campus.

The welcome address was delivered by Gurunathan, Assistant Professor. Subramani, the Principal of the college, delivered the Presidential Address.

The seminar was inaugurated by Guru Vittal, Joint Assistant Vice President and Cluster Head at HDFC Asset Management Company Ltd, Coimbatore. He highlighted that the financial services industry has been undergoing significant digital transformation, accelerated by several factors, including evolving customer expectations, regulatory changes, and technological advancements.

Technical Session I was led by Maria Inigo, Associate Professor of Corporate Secretaryship at Bharathidasan Government College for Women, Puducherry. She shared insights on how digital transformation in the financial services sector is already underway, driven by new technologies, changing consumer expectations, and increasing competition from fintech startups.

Technical Session II was conducted under the chairmanship of Gowtham, Assistant Professor at the School of Commerce, Finance & Accountancy, Christ University, Bangalore Central Campus. He discussed how digital transformation in financial services has evolved significantly, especially after the initial adoption of technology across industries. Today, financial institutions are focusing on advanced technologies to enhance customer experiences.

Students and scholars from the college, as well as various other colleges, presented their papers during the seminar.

Chella Samy, Professor in the Department of Commerce at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, delivered the valedictory address.

Thiruvenkateswari, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce, proposed the vote of thanks for the success of the national seminar. Around 150 students from various colleges participated in the one-day National Seminar.
