In a vibrant tribute to the visionary scientist and former President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam, the Department of Biotechnology at Hindusthan College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, organised a Mega Interschool Science Competition on July 26, 2025.

The fest drew an enthusiastic crowd of over 200 students from various schools across Coimbatore.

The day-long celebration of science and innovation featured six intellectually stimulating events — Quiz, Model Display, Science Talk, Drawing, Poster Making, and Pencil Sketching, all crafted around the inspiring life, ideals, and scientific vision of Kalam.

The competitions provided a dynamic platform for budding scientists to showcase their creativity, scientific thinking, and communication skills.

The event was formally inaugurated by Ponnusamy, Principal of the college, who addressed the participants with words of encouragement, emphasising the need for young minds to think beyond textbooks and innovate for a better tomorrow. “Science is not just a subject; it’s a tool to solve real-world problems,” he remarked.

The highlight of the valedictory session was the distribution of certificates and cash prizes, presided over by Sarasuwathi Khannaiyann, Secretary, Hindusthan Educational Institutions, who lauded the energy and brilliance displayed by the school students. She congratulated the winners and urged all participants to carry forward Kalam’s dream of a developed India powered by science and youth.

The fest was convened by Rajalakshmi, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, along with Antony Godson as Organising Secretary, and Flory Shobana as Event Coordinator.

The Science Fest concluded with a powerful message echoing Kalam’s vision: “Dream, Dream, and Dream. Dreams transform into thoughts, and thoughts result in action.”
