To commemorate International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026, an awareness programme was organised at Karpagam College of Engineering recently.

The programme was jointly organised by the Anti-Drug Committee, NSS, and YRC Faculty Coordinators and Volunteers.

The keynote awareness speech was delivered by Selvaragavan, Inspector of Police, Chettipalayam Police Station, who emphasised the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraged students to lead a drug-free life while becoming responsible citizens.

The programme was conducted in the presence of Karthigaikumar, Principal, and Sophia, Dean (Academics).  Aathi Pandian- PRO – Karpagam Institutions delivered the special address, highlighting the importance of youth participation in creating a drug-free society.

The welcome address was delivered by Ganesh Murali, Head (i/c)- Dept of Mechanical Engineering and Anti-Drug Committee In-charge.

The programme was coordinated by Thangamani, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Sharmaila, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology.

More than 250 students from various departments actively participated in the programme and benefited from the informative and inspiring awareness session.
