The Department of Psychology at Rathinam College of Arts & Science virtually organized the International Symposium titled “A Nexus of Brief and Effective Therapies”.

The symposium gathered experts from various disciplines to discuss new and effective therapeutic methods.

The symposium included distinguished resource persons: Jeya Buvana Jeya Raj, Case Supervisor, Roman Empire Agency Intern, Santa Clara County Office of Education, California, USA; Musthafa Mohamed Firose, Lecturer in Philosophy & Psychological Counselling, Department of Social Sciences, South Eastern University of Sri Lanka and Dhanalakshmi, Special Educator, JIPMER, Pondicherry.

The symposium saw nearly 200 students and faculty from esteemed institutions such as Christ University, Loyola College, Agurchand Manmull Jain College, University of Madras, and colleges in Coimbatore.

Rajaswathy, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, delivered the welcome address.

Balasubramaniam, Principal, presented the presidential address, stressing the need for novel therapeutic methods to tackle contemporary mental health issues.

Sabreesh, Dean of Research and Development and Seethalakshmy, Head of the Department of Psychology presented their views on the applicability of brief therapeutic models and their use in different psychological contexts.

The expert-led sessions explored brief therapy models, their effectiveness in psychological interventions, and their practical applications across various settings. The symposium concluded with a valedictory address by Suresh, Dean of the School of Science.
