The special projects wing of State Highways Department started installing A.I. Cameras and digital display boards at the GD Naidu Flyover in the city recently. Once completed this system will aid the city police to monitor vehicles that exceed the allowed speed limit of 60kms, and involve in other traffic violations while riding there.

Rs.3 crore is being spent on the project through which 44 A.I. powered surveillance cameras will be installed along the flyover including the ramp-regions in 8 areas. In addition to this, 16 spots will have LED-display boards.

The A.I. cameras will monitor vehicles exceeding the speed-limit, riders who don’t wear helmets and seat-belts, etc., and will send the feed to the Police Control Room and also to the Highways Department offices. The number-plates of the vehicles found to have committed a violation will be displayed on the LED-boards. Violation and Fine-related details will be sent to the vehicle owners digitally.
