The Inner Wheel Club of Coimbatore (District 320) marked its golden jubilee with the launch of a series of welfare initiatives aimed at healthcare and community development on 28th August 2025 (today) at the Dr. G.R. Damodaran College of Science Auditorium.
The function was presided over by Kay Morland, President, International Inner Wheel, as Chief Guest, with Jyoti Mahipal, Association President, as Guest of Honour and Seema Krishnan, Chairman, District 320, as the Special Guest.
As part of the jubilee celebrations, the club announced projects worth ₹20 lakh. These included the donation of a dialysis unit at Abirami Hospital in Coimbatore, which will enable poor patients to avail themselves of treatment free of cost.
And, the inauguration of a tailoring unit at the Vocational Training Centre of the Red Cross Society’s School for Speech and Hearing Impaired Children in Kavundampalayam, as well as the establishment of a specially designed room with a patient-lift and attached washroom at Anugraha Spine Shelter in Vagarayampalayam.
The facilities are expected to provide significant relief to economically disadvantaged patients.

Addressing the gathering, Jyoti Mahipal said the Coimbatore branch, with 106 members, had been consistently engaged in social service projects across the city and surrounding areas. “We have focused on government schools and taken up several small projects over the last four years. Going forward, we are prepared to undertake larger initiatives,” she said.
She added that those with innovative project ideas could approach society for financial support.
Highlighting past contributions, Mahipal said the organisation had donated books worth ₹25 lakh to the Corporation Library in Coimbatore to support IAS and other competitive exam aspirants.
Other initiatives have included the provision of sanitary products, installation of computer boards, bio-gas facilities, kitchen gardens, traffic signal lights, and public seating in R.S. Puram.
Radhika, Club President, Coimbatore chapter, leading a team of 105 members, reaffirmed the club’s commitment to extending its service activities, with a renewed focus on education, health, and women’s welfare.
