Marking World Tourism Day 2025 with the global theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,” the Department of Catering and Hotel Management at Hindusthan College of Arts & Science organised a 5.5 km Marathon Run on September 27, 2025, in Coimbatore.
The marathon commenced at VOC Grounds, passed through Anna Statue Junction, and concluded back at VOC Grounds.

The event was flagged off by Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, District Collector of Coimbatore.
The dignitaries present included Jagatheeswari, District Tourism Officer, Coimbatore, and Ramesh Chandrakumar, President, SKAL Club – Coimbatore. Both emphasised the significant role of tourism in promoting economic development and cultural harmony.
Ponnusamy, Principal, and Babu Krishnaraj, Controller of Examinations of the college, also graced the event and encouraged students to actively participate in community activities while upholding the values of sustainable tourism.

The marathon witnessed the enthusiastic participation of more than 400 students, along with faculty members, hospitality professionals, and SKAL members, promoting the message of health, unity, and sustainability.
The initiative aimed to create awareness about responsible tourism practices while instilling the spirit of sportsmanship and collective responsibility among the youth.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Premkanna, Head, Department of Catering and Hotel Management, who appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and dignitaries.
