Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology (HICET) recently organised the 4th International Conference on Sustainable Computing and Smart Systems (ICSCSS 2026).
The conference was held in collaboration with the IEEE Student Branch, in association with IEEE and the IEEE Systems Council.
The event was inaugurated by Kanthababu, Director, Centre for Research, Anna University, Chennai, and Veerpratap Meena, National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, India, and Sub-Committee Chair, IEEE Student Chapter Educational Program.
The three-day conference provided a global platform for academicians, researchers, industry experts, and students to deliberate on the latest innovations and future directions in sustainable computing and smart systems.
Sarasuwathi Khannaiyann, Managing Trustee, and Priya, Executive Secretary, Hindusthan Education and Charitable Trust, conveyed their best wishes for the successful conduct of the conference. They appreciated the efforts of the organising committee in bringing together researchers, academicians, and industry experts on a common platform to foster innovation and collaborative research.
During the inaugural session, Anand, IEEE Branch Counsellor, delivered the welcome address. He stated that 1,302 research papers were submitted by researchers from India and abroad, of which 295 high-quality papers were selected through a rigorous peer-review process for presentation at the conference.
The presidential address was delivered by Jaya, Principal of HICET, who emphasised the institution’s commitment to promoting research excellence, innovation, and global collaboration. She also highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary research and international partnerships in addressing emerging technological challenges and fostering sustainable development.
The special address was delivered by the Guest of Honour, Veerpratap Meena. In his address, he emphasised the pivotal role of IEEE in advancing technology and research, highlighting the various opportunities, resources, and professional development initiatives offered through the IEEE Student Branch.

He emphasised the need for innovative, sustainable, and interdisciplinary research to develop intelligent solutions for the future. He also appreciated the research culture and innovative initiatives undertaken by Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology, commending the institution for providing an excellent platform for researchers, academicians, industry professionals, and students to exchange knowledge and present their research contributions.
The highlight of the event was the release of the conference proceedings by the dignitaries, containing peer-reviewed research papers, marking the formal commencement of the technical sessions.
The inaugural ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Muniraj, Dean (Research), HICET.
