The Department of Child Health Nursing, KMCH College of Nursing, organised a Short-Term Skill Development Course on “Paediatric Basic Life Support (PBLS)” for nursing students recently.
A total of 117 students actively participated in the programme. Dr. Mullai Balaji, Consultant Paediatric Intensivist, KMCH, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered the inaugural address.
He highlighted the importance of timely and effective Paediatric Basic Life Support in saving the lives of critically ill children and emphasised the need for healthcare professionals to be proficient in life-saving emergency skills.
The programme was presided over by Madhavi, Principal of the college, who emphasised the significance of providing hands-on PBLS training to nursing students, enabling them to deliver prompt and competent emergency care to children.
The workshop focused on developing practical competency in Paediatric Basic Life Support through simulation-based training.
Participants received hands-on experience in performing high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), airway management, and the systematic management of paediatric emergencies using advanced training mannequins.
The interactive sessions enhanced the students’ confidence, clinical skills, and preparedness to respond effectively during real-life pediatric resuscitation situations, said the college in a press release.
