As part of its World Heart Day observance, G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital (GKNMH) organised a special Heart Health Awareness programme at the GKNM Integrated Outpatient (iOP) Centre on Tuesday.

The highlight of the event was the launch of a Heart Health Awareness Booklet by Dr. Sambasivam, Chairman and Senior Consultant – Cardiology, GKNMH, in the presence of the hospital’s team of cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons.

The booklet has been designed from a general public perspective and covers frequently asked questions about heart health. It provides simple and practical tips explained by the expert cardiologists of GKNMH.

The event featured an interactive session with members of the general public, during which doctors answered queries and shared tips on maintaining a healthy heart.

As part of the hospital’s holistic approach to heart care, the programme also included expert sessions by:

  • Dr. Mahesh Mitra, HOD – Physiotherapy, who spoke about daily exercise routines for maintaining a healthy heart.
  • Dr. Subramanian Gandhi, Consultant – Alternative Medicine, who spoke about yoga, breathing exercises and mudras for heart wellness.
  • Prathiksha, Chief Dietician, who spoke about daily dietary practices for maintaining heart health.

The event witnessed active participation from more than 150 members of the general public, who benefited from direct interaction with the Heart Team.

GKNMH’s Department of Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery has a 50-year legacy and is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and advanced technologies to provide comprehensive care for both adult and paediatric heart patients under one roof.
