“We are thrilled to open the Endometriosis Centre, the first of its kind in the city. Endometriosis is often misunderstood and misdiagnosed, leading to years of suffering for many. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where patients can receive holistic care tailored to their unique needs,” said Dr. Praveen Raj.
The Endometriosis Centre is committed to providing innovative, compassionate, and comprehensive care for individuals with endometriosis. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for patients through education, support, and personalized medical care. Awareness and early diagnosis are crucial, as many individuals suffer for years before receiving appropriate treatment. Increased public awareness and education can help improve outcomes for those affected,” he added.
This Centre aims to provide comprehensive diagnostic services utilizing advanced imaging and minimally invasive procedures (both laparoscopy and robotic surgery) to ensure accurate diagnosis and to provide personalized treatment plans and tailored approaches that may include medication, lifestyle changes, and surgical options when necessary.
To create awareness of Endometriosis, GEM Hospitals released a book named “All about Endometriosis.”
Endometriosis is a condition that affects an estimated 1 in 10 women worldwide and it is a disease in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. It can cause severe pain in the pelvis and make it harder to get pregnant.
Approximately 10% to 15% of women during their reproductive years (ages 15-49) are affected by endometriosis. The prevalence of endometriosis among individuals with infertility can be as high as 30% to 50%.
