AGs Healthcare and Master Health Check-Up Centre have announced a week-long free HbA1c test and diabetologist consultation for office-going adults, to be held from 14 to 22 November 2025.

The announcement was made at a press meet held today (15 November 2025). Dr. Adityan Guhan, Director of AGs Healthcare, addressed the media and said the free camp is being organised as part of World Diabetes Week.

This initiative is being offered for the first time in India, and the camp has been recognised by the International Diabetes Foundation, Belgium. As this year’s World Diabetes Day theme is “Diabetes and the Workplace”, AGs Healthcare is providing this test—worth Rs. 1,100—free of cost to office-going adults aged 25 to 45, who are often the primary support for their families.

The free test will be available between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. throughout the week, except on Sunday. The camp will also include nutrition and lifestyle counselling for those found to have diabetes or at risk of developing it.

Explaining the importance of the initiative, Dr. Adityan Guhan said the HbA1c test is considered the gold standard for detecting diabetes. While results of random blood sugar tests may vary daily depending on diet, sleep, and other factors, the HbA1c test provides an average blood sugar reading for the previous three to six months and is a key tool for diagnosing and managing diabetes and prediabetes.

He noted that an HbA1c level below 6 indicates good health, between 6 and 6.5 suggests prediabetes, and above 6.5 indicates diabetes. He added that this test is especially important for young adults, who often take on major family responsibilities while neglecting their own health by skipping meals, eating late at night, working long hours, and having prolonged screen time. Many also lack adequate sleep, physical activity, and hydration, putting them at higher risk.

Dr. Adityan further said the test is useful not only for diabetics but also for non-diabetics, as it helps ensure early detection. If diabetes is beginning to develop, people can become aware of it through this test and take timely steps for effective management.
