The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), in association with the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA), organised the SPREE 2025 Awareness Camp on 25th July 2025.

Sivasubramaniam, Chairman, Member Sub-Committee, TEA, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of ESIC. He emphasised the need to raise awareness among employees about the benefits of ESI and encouraged them to utilise the services at ESIC hospitals.

Perumal, Assistant Director, SRO Coimbatore, introduced the recently launched SPREE-25 scheme, which will be in effect from July to December 2025. He noted that registrations during this period can be done without any penalties, and previous penalties would also be waived.

He stressed the importance of making full use of the scheme and pointed out that many remain unaware of its advantages. He urged stakeholders to actively promote the scheme among employees. He also explained the various benefits of ESIC through a detailed presentation on SPREE-2025.

Among the key benefits provided by ESIC are medical care, maternity, disability, sickness, unemployment, work injury, death benefits, and widowhood assistance.

Perumal also shared information about the COVID Relief Scheme (CRS), which was active for two years. He mentioned that beneficiaries who had not claimed the benefits during that period could still do so now. Additionally, under the Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana (ABVKY), eligible insured persons can receive 50% of their average wages for up to three months.

He further noted that children of ESI-insured persons are eligible for MBBS, BDS, and B.Sc Nursing seats under the ‘IP Quota’ at ESIC medical and dental colleges. However, awareness about this opportunity is still low, and he urged better dissemination of information to maximise its utilisation.

Dr. Rajasekaran, CMO (NFSG), ESIC Hospital, Tiruppur, spoke about the hospital’s history and its recent developments. He mentioned that the hospital now has 11 active departments with plans to add more, leading to a steady increase in outpatient visits. He also reiterated the importance of spreading awareness about educational benefits under the IP Quota, which is currently being utilised more by other states.

Dr. Srinivasan, Medical Superintendent, ESI Hospital, Tiruppur, in his address, stated that ESI hospitals are rapidly advancing with the installation of world-class equipment. More doctors are being appointed, and laboratory facilities have become highly sophisticated. The hospital now offers 24/7 maternity care, has developed ICU units, conducts weekly medical camps, and provides treatment for secondary-level diseases.

Rathinasamy, Vice Chairman, Membership Sub-Committee, TEA, delivered the vote of thanks.

The session saw participation from over 50 attendees. During the open discussion segment, participants had the opportunity to clarify their doubts regarding ESI schemes and benefits.
