Coimbatore District Collector Pavankumar released a coffee table book on Coimbatore and a documentary about the district recently.
Photographer and documentarian L. Ramachandran, with the support of District Administration, Coimbatore Corporation and other departments, has worked on highlighting the various strengths of Coimbatore through the documentary and coffee table book.
Titled Coimbatore – A journey through Culture & Landscapes, this book has more than 400 pages, presenting a refined collection of evocative photographs that resonate the district’s culture, landscapes and living traditions.
Complementing this, the Documentary Film was also released, offering a compelling visual narrative that traces the district’s history, evolution and its people.

Coimbatore District Collector Pavankumar IAS said that this comprehensive coffee table edition captures the beautiful landscapes of the Western Ghats within the Coimbatore district, offering an vivid look at its diverse wildlife, avian species, and vibrant insect life.
It delves into the region’s botanical vitality, bustling marketplaces, and the profound cultural heritage of its indigenous tribes, while further exploring the district’s cuisine and its rise in the fields of education and industry besides detailing the strategic growth of Special Economic Zones (SEZs), banking, and tourism.
“The book was meticulously curated through the collaborative efforts of multiple government departments and I thank all the staff and volunteers who worked in this project,” the collector said.
