Shriram Ilakkiya Kazhagam, the literary wing of the Shriram Group, one of India’s leading non-banking financial companies, recently organised the Thirukkural Elocution Contest 2025 for school and college students across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Sridev, a student of Panchayat Union Middle School, Moolathurai, Mettupalayam, won the third prize in the ‘Junior’ category.

The state-level Thirukkural contest was conducted in three categories: Junior (Classes 6–8), Senior (Classes 9–12), and College. The contest witnessed a participation of 1,958 students from across the region.

Preliminary and semi-final rounds were conducted during July and August 2025 at 12 centres: Chennai, Vellore, Tambaram, Puducherry, Salem, Trichy, Nellai, Madurai, Tanjore, Thiruvarur, Coimbatore, and Erode.

The grand finale was held recently in Chennai, where 36 finalists, one from each level and from each of the 12 centres, competed for the top honours.

Senior Level:
1st Prize: Sangameshwaran, Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School, Sangagiri, Salem
2nd  Prize: Theesha, Govt. Model School, Kaikurichi, Pudukottai
3rd  Prize: Nandini, Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Vittampalayam, Thiruchengodu, Namakkal

College Level:
1st  Prize: Sushimitha, Sree Saradha Mahavidhyalayam Arts and Science College for Women, Ulundurpet, Kallakurichi
2nd  Prize: Santoshkumar, Krishna College of Education, Krishnagiri
3rd  Prize: Manivasagam, JJ College of Education, Sivapuram, Pudukottai

First prize winners in each category received a cash award of Rs. 15,000 along with a shield and certificate. Second prize winners were awarded Rs. 10,000, while third prize winners received Rs. 7,500—each accompanied by a shield and certificate.
