Balakrishnan, Police Commissioner, Coimbatore City honoured the winners of Shankar IAS Academy’s ‘ Become One-day Administrator’ competition at the Academy’s Peelamedu Branch, recently.
The competition was held as a part of the 17th edition of Coimbatore Vizha, this state-level unique competition was organized for School and College Students in 3 different age-categories – Category A- 14 to 18; Category B- 19 to 23 and Category C 24 to 28.
The participants need to provide unique and innovative solutions to problem statements identified by the District administration, Police Department and Corporation such as Street Dog Menace, Child Safety and Drug Abuse.
Around 450 students registered to participate in this competition this year. 120 students cleared the first round, 55 entered the semi-finals and 35 students reached the finals.
At the finals, Idris Shiek Dawood, a 11th-grade student of Senthil Public School Dharmapuri; Poornima Venkatesh, B.Tech student from Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore and Hari Gokul, BDS student from Sri Ramakrishna Dental College, Coimbatore were declared the winners of Category A, B & C respectively.
The winners will each spend a day with the District Collector, Police Commissioner and Corporation Commissioner in the coming days. This event held jointly with Young Indians (Yi) inspires youth to focus and fine-tune their mind to provide practical solutions to issues and questions that need innovative answers.
The Police Commissioner congratulated the winners and presented them the prizes and certificates in the presence of Arun Senthilnathan, Centre Head and Yashmi Arun, CEO, Shankar IAS Academy, Coimbatore and Neil Kikani, Kesica from Young Indians.
He appreciated all the participants who spent their time in a productive way to make Coimbatore better. He commended Shankar IAS Academy, Coimbatore for organizing this unique competition.
