PSG Health Sciences Institutions comprising of PSG Institute of Health Sciences and Research, PSG College of Nursing, PSG College of Pharmacy, PSG College of Physiotherapy inaugurated a club called COAD (Club of Anti Drug) to create awareness among students and public about harms of drug abuse, recently.
Kannan IPS, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City and Devanathan, Deputy Commissioner of Police – Coimbatore North took part as the Chief Guests and inaugurated the club. The occasion also saw the launch of PSG Shield App – a women’s safety and SOS app, and the honoring of G.D.Vishnu Raam, a renowned cyclist known for creating impactful awareness about women’s safety and anti-drug awareness in Tamil Nadu.
Delivering the special address, Kannan IPS underlined the important role students play in preventing drug abuse. He appealed everyone to act with social responsibility. The event also featured the prize distribution ceremony for various competition held on topics – women’s safety and drug abuse.
The event conclude with an oath-taking ceremony where the students and all participants vowed that it is their responsibility to raise a drug-free generation. Dr. Subbarao, Principal, PSG Institute of Medical Sciences & Research; Jeyadeepa, Principal of PSG College of Nursing; Mahesh, Principal, PSG College of Physiotherapy; Dr. M. Ramanathan, Principal, PSG College of Pharmacy also attended.
