Amrita Vidyalayam Senior Secondary School, Tiruppur, celebrated the 80th Independence Day today.
The chief guest, Kanagasabapathi, Trustee and Secretary of the Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation, New Delhi, hoisted the national flag.
The march past was one of the highlights of the celebration. It was led by Head Boy Pranav and Head Girl Varunika, with students representing the four houses—Amritamayi, Anandamayi, Chinmayi and Jyothirmayi.
Chitra, Principal of the school, addressed the gathering. The chief guest also shared his thoughts and insights with the students on the occasion.
A special highlight of the event was the release of an exclusive magazine edition aimed at creating awareness about drug abuse. The edition highlights the harmful effects of drug use and encourages young people to make responsible choices and lead healthy and purposeful lives.
The celebration continued with a variety of cultural programmes, including dance performances, Tamil and English speeches, a skit, and a traditional Silambam presentation, showcasing the talent, creativity and enthusiasm of the students.
