Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Amrita University), one of India’s premier multi-campus, multi-disciplinary teaching and research institutions, has once again been positioned among the nation’s best in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, announced by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, on 4th September 2025.
Amrita has been ranked 8th among all universities in India and 9th among medical colleges, placing it in the country’s Top 10 in both categories.
With this achievement, Amrita has earned the rare distinction of featuring in the Top 10 Universities list for the eighth consecutive year since 2017.
Founded in 2003, Amrita also remains the youngest institution among India’s leading universities, with a vibrant presence across 10 campuses in various parts of the country.
One of the key factors contributing to this year’s strong ranking was Amrita’s extensive global collaborations. The university has forged academic and research partnerships with over 200 leading institutions worldwide, including Harvard University, Columbia University, King’s College London, and the University of Tokyo.
These alliances have enabled cutting-edge research, student exchange programs, and a dynamic culture of innovation, strengthening Amrita’s role as a globally connected institution.
Beyond the University and Medical categories, Amrita’s excellence is reflected across multiple disciplines:
- Overall Category: 17
- Research: 31
- Engineering: 23
- Management: 26
- Pharmacy: 14
- Dental: 14
Commenting on the achievement, Venkat Rangan, Vice Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, said, “Being consistently ranked in the Top 10 universities of India, and once again among the Top 10 medical colleges, reflects Amrita’s unwavering focus on quality education and compassion-driven research.
