Alapakkam Velammal Vidyalaya School, Chennai, has once again secured the championship title in the 2025 National Chess Tournament for CBSE Schools (Under-14 Category), held in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
The prestigious tournament featured teams selected from nine zones across India, along with three international CBSE school teams from Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait.
Representing South Zone – 1, the team from Alapakkam Velammal Vidyalaya showcased outstanding skill and consistency, winning all their matches to clinch the National Championship title.
The winning team comprised students Kavin, Kishore Prajith, Nijesh, and Parithinarayan, who delivered remarkable performances, setting a new record with their unbeaten streak.

With this victory, the team has now qualified to represent CBSE schools in the 69th School Sports Federation of India (SGFI) Championship, scheduled to be held in Ranchi, Jharkhand, this December.
It is notable that in the 68th SGFI Championship last year, CBSE schools bagged their first-ever gold medal in the U-14 chess category. Continuing this success, Alapakkam Velammal U14 boys have now brought further pride to the school, the state, and the nation by winning four consecutive national-level gold medals.
