Observing World Heart Day 2026, Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Coimbatore conducted a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Awareness Program near Race Course on Tuesday, educating the public about the importance of CPR in critical moments.
Organised in association with First Heart Foundations Network, the program aimed to create greater public awareness about sudden cardiac arrest, the importance of recognising cardiac emergencies promptly, and the potentially life-saving role of immediate CPR.
The program was inaugurated by the Managing Trustee of Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Sundar Ramakrishnan and District Collector Pavankumar I.A.S., along with C.V. Ramkumar, Chief Executive Officer, D. Mahesh Kumar, Chief Administrative Officer, Dr. S. Rajagopal, Medical Director, and Dr. S. Alagappan, Medical Superintendent of the hospital.
The organizers aim to continue this activity for a whole week at several prominent public locations across Coimbatore, including Airport, Railway Station, Semmozhi Poonga, PRS Ground besides massive commercial establishments such as Broadway and Fun Mall.
Speaking on the occasion, Sundar Ramakrishnan emphasised the importance of extending essential life-saving awareness beyond hospital premises and into the community. He highlighted that greater awareness and basic knowledge of CPR can help individuals respond more confidently during emergency situations at home, workplaces or public places.
