The Faculty of Computer Science, Dr. NGP Arts and Science College, recently organised CREZIA 2026, a state-level hackathon for school students under the DBT-STAR College Scheme.
The event provided a platform for higher secondary students to develop and present innovative solutions to real-world challenges using technology and interdisciplinary knowledge.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mary Magdalene Jane, Dean, Faculty of Computer Science. She highlighted the significance of hackathons in fostering innovation and problem-solving among young learners and spoke about the college’s initiatives to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.
Saravanan, Principal of the college, delivered the felicitation address. He encouraged the students to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems and contribute towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The hackathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing 30 schools across the State.
A total of 50 teams, with a maximum of four members in each team, presented their projects under themes including Sustainable Development, Smart Transportation, Health and Wellness, Technology and Innovation, Financial Literacy, Cultural Heritage, and Education and Learning.
The projects were evaluated based on innovation, feasibility and social impact. The winners were presented with shields, while certificates were awarded to all participants. Participating schools were also recognised for their contributions to the event.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and appreciation of the participating students, mentors and schools.
