With the aim to strengthen its partnership in road safety awareness generation and related activities, Sri Ramakrishna College for Women (SRCW) signed an MoU with UYIR – an NGO specializing in the field of road safety in Coimbatore.

The MoU was signed by Chitra, Principal of SRCW and Captain R. Satish, Mentor – Education Vertical, UYIR and Head – Administration, LMW.

“Sri Ramakrishna College is already an active participant in UYIR’s road safety initiatives, with an established UYIR Road Safety Club on campus. Students have been actively involved in promoting responsible road-user behaviour and creating road safety awareness. The MoU will provide a structured framework to further strengthen and expand these ongoing activities, enhancing student and faculty participation,” a press release stated.

Addressing the students, Captain Satish pointed out that death due to road accidents is preventable, yet approximately 300 lives were lost in Coimbatore due to these unfortunate incidents in the first half of 2026, and a considerable number of the victims of these accidents are innocent pedestrians.

He encouraged the students to learn about road safety, stand firm on it, and educate their family and circle, and also emphasized that any awareness and relevant action has the potential to work well in society if it is first followed at home.
