Hindusthan College of Health Sciences recently observed the 11th death anniversary of former President of India and Bharat Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam by organizing a plantation drive under the theme, “Ignited Minds, Green Campus.”
In keeping with Dr. Kalam’s vision of a “Green and Developed India” and his deep love for nature and youth, the Principal, faculty members, and students planted saplings across the campus.
Each sapling symbolized one of Dr. Kalam’s Rules of Success, reflecting his teachings on discipline, vision, hard work, and service to the nation.
Addressing the gathering, the Principal said, “Dr. Kalam was not only the Missile Man of India but also a great teacher who believed that students are the future of this country. Planting trees is one of the best ways to honour his love for nature, education, and a sustainable future. Let these trees grow as a living tribute to his dreams.”
Students from the Department of Cardiac Technology participated enthusiastically in the programme. As part of the initiative, each student adopted a ‘Kalam Vriksha’ and pledged to nurture and protect it.
The programme began with a two-minute silent prayer in memory of Dr. Kalam, followed by the plantation drive and an environmental protection pledge.
