The PG and Research Department of Biotechnology at Kongunadu Arts and Science College (KASC) in collaboration with the University of Westminster, London, United Kingdom organized an International Hands-on Workshop on “CRISPR: Exploring the Three Generations of Human Genome Engineering.”
The program which was held under the guidance of C.A.Vasuki, Secretary and Director of KASC, focused on the latest advancements in CRISPR technology, combining expert lectures with practical demonstrations to provide participants with hands-on exposure to modern genome engineering techniques.
Kalpana Surendranath, Founder and Director of the Westminster Centre for Gene Editors of the Future, University of Westminster, London served as the resource person for the program. 98 students representing various colleges across Tamil Nadu participated.
Delivering the keynote address, Kalpana Surendranath explained the evolution of CRISPR technology, recent breakthroughs in genome editing, ethical considerations, and its applications in medicine, agriculture, and biotechnology research, inspiring participants to explore emerging opportunities in life sciences. The program concluded with an interactive discussion session.
