The Coimbatore Cancer Foundation (CCF) has officially announced the opening of registrations for the 14th edition of the Walkaroo Coimbatore Marathon, one of South India’s most anticipated running events.

Scheduled to be held on Sunday, December 20, 2026, the marathon is expected to bring together over 27,000 participants, reaffirming its position as one of India’s largest community-driven sporting events dedicated to cancer awareness and healthy living.

Walkaroo continues as the Title Partner, while ELGi Equipments is the Powered By Partner.

Registrations were formally launched by Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, District Collector; Kannan, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City; and Katta Ravi Teja, Commissioner, Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation.

The dignitaries marked the occasion by registering themselves for the marathon, encouraging citizens across all age groups to be part of the movement.

Participants can now register online at www.coimbatoremarathon.com.

Organised by the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation in partnership with Coimbatore Runners, the marathon has grown into much more than a sporting event. Since its inception in 2013, it has become a powerful platform for spreading cancer awareness while raising funds to support cancer patients, survivors, and their families.

Over the past 13 editions, the marathon has helped raise more than ₹7.5 crore, enabling the Foundation to expand its outreach initiatives and patient support programmes across the region.

The race categories are:

  • Half Marathon (21.1 km) – ₹1,300
  • 10 km Run – ₹1,100
  • 5 km Timed Run – ₹850
  • 5 km Run/Walk – ₹650

Following the overwhelming response to last year’s “Let’s Ko, Kovai” campaign, the 2026 edition aims to inspire even greater community participation. The organisers have invited runners, walkers, families, corporates, fitness enthusiasts, and first-time participants to come together in support of a cause that impacts countless lives.

I am confident this marathon will continue to inspire thousands to walk, run, and embrace an active lifestyle while creating greater awareness about cancer. Together, let us make every step count towards a healthier tomorrow.”

Dr. T. Balaji, Managing Trustee of the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation, said, “The Walkaroo Coimbatore Marathon has become a symbol of hope, health, and togetherness for our city.

“We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of the people of Coimbatore, our partners, and the district administration, whose encouragement has enabled us to expand initiatives such as ‘Tobacco & Drug-Free Coimbatore’ and ‘Cervical Cancer-Free Coimbatore.’

“At the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation, our commitment extends beyond prevention and early detection. Through our palliative care initiatives, we strive to bring dignity, comfort, and compassionate support to patients in the final stages of life while standing beside their families during their most difficult moments.

“We invite every citizen to participate, cheer for our runners, and stand united in this movement. Together, we can continue creating awareness, inspiring healthier lives, supporting those who need us most, and making a meaningful difference in the fight against cancer.”

Today, the Coimbatore Marathon proudly stands among the top 10 marathons in India, making Coimbatore the only Tier II city in the country to be represented in this league.

“This remarkable journey has been made possible by the unwavering support of our partners, volunteers, civic authorities, and the running community, to whom we are deeply grateful. As always, we remain committed to delivering a world-class experience for every participant while advancing our mission of raising cancer awareness and promoting health and well-being through walking and running.

“We invite everyone to register, join us on race day, and be part of this incredible movement, where every step helps make a difference.”
