The Department of Public Administration and the Department of Management at Rathinam College of Arts and Science organised a one-day national seminar on “Beyond Taxation: Navigating the Social and Cultural Implications of GST Reforms in the Southern States of India,” sponsored by ICSSR-SRC.

Sabareesh, Dean (Research and Development), delivered the presidential address. Seema Senthil, Director and Trustee of Rathinam Group of Institutions, shared special insights. Manickam, CEO, and Balasubramanian, Principal of the college, also attended the event.

Expert talks were given by Arun, Assistant Commissioner, GST Division, Salem; Aravind Thangam, Consulting CEO, Zen Tax Clinic and Partner at Paul & Aravind LLP; Snekalatha, Head, Department of Accounting &Taxation of the college; and Palanithurai, retired professor of Gandhigram Rural Institute.

More than 200 participants, including academicians, research scholars and students from states like Kerala, Odisha, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, took part in the seminar. Participants also came from districts such as Salem, Theni, Chennai, Trichy and Coimbatore.

The seminar included technical paper presentations and discussions on the social and cultural impact of GST reforms in southern India.
