“True education involves anticipating the future needs of the world, designing curricula for that and grooming students, and contributing to the development of society through research,” said K.Ramasamy, Padma Shri Awardee and Chancellor of Karpagam Academy for Higher Education at PSG CAS.

PSG College of Arts and Science (PSG CAS) organized Awards Day 2026 to honor its faculty members who have made excellent contribution to academics and research. K.Ramasamy, the Chief Guest of this celebration honored 300+ faculty of the institution with the certificate of appreciation. M.Jayanthi, Principal, T.Kannaian, Secretary, Uma Rani, Vice Principal, PSG CAS joined him and honored the faculty. During the event, K.Ramasamy also launched the Industry Relation Cell of PSG CAS.

M.Jayanthi in her speech said that academicians must remain attentive to societal needs, industrial developments, and emerging global challenges. Collaborative research, including interdisciplinary, interinstitutional, and industry collaborations, should be actively embraced.

Speaking about the future plans to encourage students involve in research, she said a mentorship clinic is proposed for first to third-year undergraduate and first to second-year postgraduate students. Faculty from other departments will also monitor students, providing expert guidance for their research endeavors. This allows students to approach faculty in various departments like physics, biotechnology, or statistics for specialized input.

She also shared that the institution is in plans to identify research problems of MSMEs in collaboration with CODISSIA to provide real-time solutions, and it also aims to promote Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and enhance technology transfer.

Ramasamy highlighted the vital role of teachers as mentors and the necessity of forward-thinking educational planning. He recommended the college to envision the needs of the future, devise strategy to achieve that, select students who exhibit the brilliance to handle the strategy and take up research. He emphasized that by identifying key research projects and engaging students early, institutions can produce world-class PhD research within three years, ultimately transforming educators into distinguished scientists and students into global innovators.
