An International Conference on “Engineering Agriculture for a Resilient Future” was recently held at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.

The event brought together scientists, academicians, industry experts, and students to discuss innovative engineering solutions for sustainable and resilient agricultural development.

Around 500 participants from various institutions and organisations across Tamil Nadu attended the conference, including researchers, faculty members, industry professionals and students.

Alagusundaram, MD & CEO, Tamil Nadu Food Processing and Agri Export Promotion Corporation (TNAPEx), Former DDG- ICAR, Chennai, delivered the inaugural address and emphasised the pivotal role of agricultural engineering in strengthening the agricultural value chain, improving post-harvest management, and enhancing the export potential of agricultural commodities.

He highlighted the need to adopt modern technologies, efficient processing systems, and innovative engineering solutions to ensure the sustainability, quality, and global competitiveness of agricultural products.

The keynote address was delivered by Rajkumar, Director & Secretary (AMMA), Renaaissance Power Products, Coimbatore, who shared insights on the importance of technological advancements, mechanization and industry-driven innovations in addressing the emerging challenges in agriculture and promoting resilient farming systems.

Rajkumar, Dean, Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, TNAU, addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of engineering interventions in modern agriculture and the need for collaborative research to develop sustainable technologies for future agricultural challenges.

The inaugural function was graced by the presence of Venkatesa Palanichamy, Dean (Agriculture), Coimbatore; Venkatesan, Dean (Horticulture), Coimbatore; Babu, Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies;  Ramalingam, Dean, Centre for Students Welfare, and Balasubramaniam, Director, Directorate of Natural Resource Management who encouraged interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in agricultural education and research.

During the inaugural ceremony, the dignitaries released the conference Souvenir, marking the formal commencement of the conference.

The conference was organised by the Staff Organising Secretaries Balaji Kannan and Thiyagarajan, along with the Joint Staff Organising Secretaries Aruna Devi and Mohan Kumar, while Amulyaa Shri and Devaganesh served as the Student Organising Secretaries.
