We look for attitude over talent. People with the attitude and the eagerness to learn and adapt are given priority than those who come with talent but not with the mindset to re-learn, said Hemanand Ramasamy, CEO, MachDatum at Gateway 26- the national level inter-collegiate symposium of PSG College of Arts and Science on Wednesday.

This is the 26th edition of the symposium, organized by the School of Computational Sciences (SCS) of the college. This technical program features a full-stack development workshop, an 8-hour hackathon, a coding competition and several other range of events.

Kannaian,Secretary; Jayanthi, Principal; Revathi, Dean, School of Computational Sciences; Uma Rani, Vice Principal (SF), PSG CAS took part in the inauguration along with the students and faculty members of the departments under the School of Computational Sciences.

Referring to the recent A.I. Summit that was held in India, and the government’s plans to invest substantially in A.I, Principal Jayanthi underlined the importance of knowing skills related to A.I., in her address. She recommended the participants to take up professional certification courses in A.I.

She also suggested the students to take up real-world problems faced by MSMEs as their area of focus in college projects and attempt to give solutions to that. She urged them to interact with MSMEs in the district for this.

The Chief Guest, Hemanand Ramasamy shared a few practices they follow while hiring staff. He emphasized the importance of Attitude over Talent, and Discipline over Motivation. The Motivation to do something, according to him, may diminish gradually if the approach to goals do not have discipline. Motivation could be a temporary feeling but a disciplined approach with a schedule ensures accomplishment of the goals.

He also shared about the hiring practices commonly followed in organizations, and recommended the students to standout from the usual crowd by adding weight to their résumé.

The technical events commenced post the inaugural. The program attracted an incredible number of students from various parts of the country.
