The Department of Civil Engineering, Dr. NGP Institute of Technology (NGPiTech), Coimbatore, in association with the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) Chapter, organised a two-day International Conference on Sustainability, Materials and Engineering Education (ICSMEE–2026) recently.
The conference was inaugurated by Ravi Kumar Reddy, DGM – Projects, BNR Infrastructure Projects, Chennai.
In his inaugural address, he spoke on current engineering trends and highlighted the growing opportunities available for aspiring engineers in sustainable and infrastructure-driven sectors.
Prabha, Principal of the college, felicitated the gathering and emphasized the need for sustainability-focused research and innovation in engineering education.
The welcome address was delivered by Murali, Head of the Department, who outlined the objectives and significance of the conference.
The conference received an excellent response from academicians, researchers, and industry professionals from across India and abroad.
The technical sessions focused on emerging areas such as Sustainable and Green Concrete, Geopolymer and Waste-Based Materials, Structural Health Monitoring, Remote Sensing and GIS Applications, AI and IoT in Infrastructure, Environmental Impact Assessment, and Smart Construction Technologies.
More than 40 research papers were accepted and presented during the conference. A total of four technical paper presentation sessions were conducted, chaired by experts from reputed academic institutions, enabling meaningful technical discussions and knowledge sharing.
The conference served as an effective platform for researchers, faculty members, and students to exchange ideas, showcase innovations, and discuss sustainable solutions for modern engineering challenges, strengthening academic and industry collaboration.
