Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC), Coimbatore, under the Sri Ramakrishna Institutions of SNR Sons Charitable Trust, inaugurated the 36-hour Israel–India Global Innovators Hackathon 2026 on January 5, 2026.
The two-day event, conducted in collaboration with Ariel University, Israel, and Promitei, Israel, will continue until January 6, 2026.
The inauguration was presided over by R. Sundar, Managing Trustee of the Trust, along with S. Narendran, Joint Managing Trustee, and Ramakrishna, Trustee. The hackathon is convened by Soundarrajan, Principal of the college.

An eminent international panel of experts from India, Israel, and Singapore is addressing the participants.
The speakers include Rami Itselev and Dave Belostotsky of ERA IT Consulting & Audit Services; Shankar Mohan, CEO of Biopharmax India; Oorvahsk Dastoor, Managing Director of Nest Egg Asset Management; and Mark Melamed, Head of Business Development at Promitei.
Paramjeet Singh Makani, Director, Pantomath Financial Services Group; Arpit Deepak Yadav, Senior AI Scientist and Researcher, CCE; and Salur Srikant Patnaik, Dean, IFIM Institutions, are also delivering keynote addresses.
The special addresses will be delivered by Albert Pinhasov, Rector of Ariel University, Israel, and Lemuel Melamed of Promitei, Israel, highlighting the importance of Indo–Israel academic collaboration and innovation-driven entrepreneurship.
The event features participation from student innovators across the country. A total of more than 540 teams, comprising over 1,400 students, registered for the hackathon across three focused tracks: Cyber Resilience; Sustainability Engineering for Pharma and Biotechnology; and Diversified Innovations.
Following a rigorous screening process, 60 teams with more than 350 students have been shortlisted for the final on-campus hackathon round.
The hackathon is organised by the faculty teams of SREC CoIN (Collaborative Innovation Centre) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC).
The event will conclude with a valedictory function, during which winners and runners-up in each track will be announced. Selected teams will be offered opportunities for shortlisting to the Cyber Innovation Center (CIC), along with internships and career mentorship support from participating industries, including Biopharmax and Nest Egg Asset Management.
The organisers stated that the initiative aims to support students beyond the competition by connecting them with industry, innovation centres, and long-term career guidance.
