The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, has approved an additional batch for the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) course at Nehru College of Aeronautics and Applied Sciences, Coimbatore.

The approval was granted in view of the growing demand for the programme and the facilities, infrastructure and academic standards maintained by the institution.

The college offers practical training at Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi international airports, in addition to hands-on training on aircraft available on campus.

Established in 1968, Nehru College has been approved by the DGCA since 1987.

The duration of the AME course is two and a half years, and the new approval covers both the mechanical and avionics streams. Students enrolled in the programme are also awarded a BSc Aircraft Maintenance Science degree by Alagappa University.
