The Department of Neurology – Advanced Stroke Centre at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital organised a Stroke Symposium on 9th November 2025, at Hotel Residency Towers, Coimbatore, under the theme “Basics and Advances in Stroke Management”.

It was inaugurated by the hospital’s leadership team, including R. Sundar, Managing Trustee; Narendran, Joint Managing Trustee; Ramkumar, Chief Executive Officer; Maheshkumar, Chief Administrative Officer; Rajagopal, Medical Director; and Dr. Alagappan, Medical Superintendent.

The programme provided actionable insights into the latest advancements in stroke diagnosis, treatment, emergency care, and long-term management.

The event brought together a distinguished panel of neurologists, stroke specialists, interventional experts, and senior clinicians across various disciplines.

The session began with a talk on Thrombolysis in Acute Ischaemic Stroke by Dr. Vedhanayagam, followed by presentations on Rare Causes of Ischaemic Stroke and Endovascular Treatment in Acute Ischaemic Stroke by Dr. Asokan and Dr. Aruna Devi, the doctors of Sri Ramakrishna Hospital.

Post the inaugural session, the symposium continued with discussions on emerging topics such as AI in Stroke Management by Dr. Lakshmi Narasimhan, Head of Department of Neurology, Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Pediatric Stroke by Dr. Manivasakan.

Afternoon sessions highlighted with Anti-platelet Therapy in Secondary Stroke Prevention, Hypertension and Risk Factor Management, and Surgical Intervention I Acute Stroke, conducted by eminent specialists of Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, including Dr. Prakash, Dr. Prachet, and Dr. Dhivya Palanisamy.

The symposium was designed to offer practical, bedside-applicable knowledge to physicians, neurologists, emergency practitioners, and postgraduate trainees.

The Hospital has also been accredited by the Quality & Accreditation Institute (QAI), India, as an Advanced Stroke Centre, reaffirming its high standards of clinical quality, technology adoption, and patient-centred care.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Asokan.
