In a compassionate outreach effort, the students of BBA (Computer Applications) and the Rotaract Club from KPR College of Arts, Science and Research organised an extension activity titled “Planting Hope, Growing Smiles” at the orphanage Families for Children, Podanur, Coimbatore.

The initiative aimed to promote social responsibility while contributing to the welfare of differently-abled and orphaned children.

Geetha, Principal, appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of learning humanity through helping others.

The students collectively raised a fund of ₹19,012, which was used to donate two wheelchairs to the home, as requested. In addition, they provided essential supplies, including groceries, drawing books, and colour sketches, catering to the daily and creative needs of the residents.

The students also engaged in interactions with the children, sharing smiles, stories, and laughter.

The visit served as a meaningful learning experience, helping students understand the values of empathy, inclusiveness, and compassion.

Reflecting the institution’s commitment to social development, the event aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, Goal 4: Quality Education, and Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities.

The event was coordinated by Raam Kumar, Assistant Professor of English and UBA Coordinator of the college.
