Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies (VIMS), Coimbatore, organised “Anti-Ragging & Drug Awareness Program” on 18th September 2025.

The event aimed to educate students about the ill effects of ragging and drug abuse, promoting a safe and healthy campus and in society.

Valarmathi, Director, delivered the presidential address. She emphasised the crucial role of the students as young leaders in taking care of society and the environment. She urged students to refrain from using harmful substances that can affect their health and future.

She highlighted the responsibility of the students to uphold the institution’s reputation positively and encouraged students to be mindful of their actions and to discourage their peers from engaging in substance.

The resource person for the session, Rajendran, Sub Inspector of Police, Kovilpalayam Police Station, Coimbatore, shared valuable insights on the consequences of drug abuse and ragging. He highlighted the dangers of drug abuse, citing its severe impact on health, including neurological damage and eye problems.

Rajendran shared the real-life examples of drug seizures, often involving college students who become easily addicted. He warned the students about the serious consequences of getting caught, including registration in the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), which can negatively impact their lives.

He highlighted the importance of maintaining a ragging-free environment in colleges. He encouraged students to be mindful of their actions and to treat their mates with respect and kindness.

The program provided a platform for students to understand the risks associated with drug abuse and the importance of making informed choices.
