Viswanathan, the founder and Chancellor of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), a private deemed university in Vellore, has been honoured with the “Highly Noble Person” award by the Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America (FeTNA) in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.
He was recognised for his visionary leadership in founding VIT University and his contributions to shaping world-class higher education in India. The citation also highlighted his significant contributions to education, politics, and societal development.
The Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America (FeTNA), established around 38 years ago, integrates 70 Tamil Sangams across North America. It promotes the Tamil language, culture, literature, trade, and development.
Each year, FeTNA hosts an annual conference and presents awards to distinguished Tamils for their achievements in fields such as education, cinema, and literature. This year, the coveted award was presented to the VIT Chancellor.
Selvam, Vice-President, and Seenivasan, Director of International Relations at the university, were present on the occasion.
