Two young siblings, Maya Anand (14) and Swara Anand (10), students from the USA, amazed a gathering of over 200 senior citizens with a soulful Carnatic music concert held recently at Ananya’s Nana Nani Homes Phase 6.
The sisters, who are passionate students of Carnatic music, presented a well-curated performance. They are currently training under Guru Sri Hari Devanath, a disciple of the renowned Sri Neyveli Santhanagopalan, at Sri Paduka Academy, California.
The concert featured a ragamalika composed by Saint Thyagaraja, rendered in ragas such as Kalyana Vasantham, Sankarabharanam, and Kalyani. A highlight of the performance was the rendition of “Thamboori Meetidava” by Purandaradasar, which received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
The program concluded on a patriotic note with “Jayati Jayati Bharata Maata,” composed by Mayavaram Viswanatha Sastri.
In a heartfelt gesture, the children dedicated the concert to their grandfather, Rangarajan. The senior residents of Nana Nani Homes enjoyed the performance and showered their blessings on the young artists.
