The Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, in association with the Wellness Centre of PSG College of Arts & Science organized a Women’s Day Summit titled “Empower U: Unlocking Women’s Potential through Holistic Health” recently at the college.
The summit was organized to commemorate International Women’s Day and aimed to empower women by offering insightful discussions, expert sessions, and valuable tools for personal growth, holistic health, and well-being.
The keynote address was delivered by Daththathreyan, a motivational speaker and teacher from the Ramakrishna Mission, Coimbatore. His session, titled “Transforming Challenges into Opportunities for Women”, provided attendees with valuable insights on how women can overcome obstacles and turn challenges into opportunities for growth and empowerment.
Rajakumari, Professor in the Department of Applied Psychology at the Central University of Tamil Nadu, delivered an interactive session on “Finding Balance: Stress Management Strategies for Women”. The session offered practical strategies for women to manage stress effectively, emphasizing the importance of balance in both personal and professional life.
In the afternoon session, the summit continued with Kavitha, Chief Dietician at PSG Hospitals, Coimbatore, who led the proactive session on “Nutrition and Lifestyle for a Healthier You”. The session focused on the importance of nutrition and maintaining a healthy lifestyle as key pillars of overall well-being.
The final session of the summit featured Deepa Shankar, a Pranic Healer from GMCKS Pranic Healing Centre, Coimbatore. Her session, titled “Restore and Revive: Pranic Healing for Emotional Balance”, introduced participants to the principles of pranic healing and how it can be used to relieve pain and restore emotional and mental balance.
The objective of the programme was to inspire women to invest in their personal development by offering practical tools and strategies for achieving a balanced, healthy lifestyle while encouraging self-care practices.
The summit brought together 220 participants comprising women faculty members, supporting staff, teaching assistants, and students, providing them with an enriching opportunity to learn about various aspects of optimum health and wellness. The event featured a diverse set of expert speakers from different fields, who addressed topics ranging from stress management to emotional balance and healing.
Through the event, participants gained newer insights into stress management techniques to improve personal and professional balance and they developed a deeper understanding of nutrition and healthy living for overall wellness.
Additionally, the participants gained insights into pranic healing techniques for pain relief and restoring emotional balance and the audience felt empowered to turn challenges into opportunities for personal and professional growth.
“The Women’s Day Summit was a resounding success as the various sessions provided a comprehensive approach to holistic health, blending nutrition, emotional well-being, stress management, and spiritual healing. Participants felt empowered, informed, and inspired to take charge of their health and well-being,” noted the organisers.
