Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies (VIMS) organised VIMS ICON’25, an International Conference on Business Management, Technology, Social Innovation, and Sustainable Development, on October 31, 2025.

The conference brought together leading scholars, industry professionals, and innovators to share their knowledge and expertise on emerging trends and challenges in these fields.

Umamaheswari delivered the welcome address, emphasising the importance of research that contributes value to both industry and society.

Valarmathi, Director of the college, delivered the Presidential Address, highlighting the theme of the conference and stating that presentations should focus on research content that adds real value to industry and yields tangible outcomes. She also noted that participating in the conference would help students build networks, gain exposure, and acquire knowledge on key concepts. She concluded by wishing all participants success.

The Chief Guest, Sanjay Pal, Rector, Sharda University, Uzbekistan, addressed the gathering, commending the conference themes, which included effective management, supply chain, social innovation, and sustainable development. He discussed the impact of these areas on society and the environment, citing the honey bee model and social entrepreneurship as examples of initiatives that promote sustainable growth.

Pal shared his experience working on social development projects supported by the British Council and encouraged participants to focus on ideas that would remain relevant for the next decade, thereby adding lasting value to their research presentations.

Another Chief Guest, Navaneeth, Managing Director of Gishnu Gears, engaged students through an interactive session on change management. He grouped the students, asked each group to choose a leader and prepare ten questions, and then discussed the challenges faced by the leaders during the exercise.

He elaborated on politics, sustainability, and the importance of management studies, stressing the need to understand customer needs and priorities.

Navaneeth explained that sustainability is about meeting customer demands responsibly while maintaining balance. He concluded his session by introducing the “4D Approach” — Do, Decide, Delegate, Delete — as a practical strategy for effective management.

The conference proceedings, featuring a collection of research papers and presentations on themes such as Management, Business Analytics, Banking & Finance, Economics, International Trade, Marketing, Human Resources, and Technology & Innovation, were released by Navaneeth.
