City police have announced traffic diversions in Coimbatore between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. on March 4, 2026 (Wednesday), in view of the Koniamman Temple car festival.

Traffic Diversions to and from Perur

Vehicles coming from Perur towards the city via Chetty Street and Raja Street will be rerouted and required to take an alternative route.

Vehicles from Perur should turn right near Selvapuram Corporation School, proceed via Ashok Nagar Roundana, take the Perur Bypass Road, and reach Ukkadam to access their respective destinations.

Vehicles heading towards Perur via Big Bazaar Street, NH Road, Vysial Street, and Chetty Street should proceed through Raja Theatre, reach Ukkadam Roundana, turn right onto Perur Bypass Road, continue via Ashok Nagar Roundana, pass through Selvapuram Higher Secondary School and Suthumavaykkal Check Post, and reach Sivalaya Junction to access their destinations.

Diversion for Marudhamalai and Thadagam Road Vehicles

Vehicles coming from Marudhamalai Road and Thadagam Road towards Raja Street via Telugu Street will be rerouted. Motorists should take Thadagam Road → Gandhi Park → Ponnaiyarajapuram → Chokkampudur → Ramamoorthy Road → Sivalaya Junction → Selvapuram Corporation School → Ashok Nagar Roundana → Ukkadam, and then proceed to their respective destinations.

Alternative Route for Ukkadam Commuters

Vehicles from Ukkadam heading towards Oppanakara Street, Thadagam Road, Marudhamalai Road, and Mettupalayam Road must take the diversion via Perur Bypass Road → Ashok Nagar Roundana → Suthumavaykkal Check Post → Sivalaya Junction → Ramamoorthy Road → Chokkampudur → Ponnaiyarajapuram, and then reach Thadagam Road.

Parking Arrangements for Devotees

Devotees arriving on two-wheelers and four-wheelers are advised to use the designated Corporation parking facilities available at the Raja Street Corporation Parking Area and the Corporation Parking Area opposite the Koniamman Temple.

Motorists are requested to cooperate with the authorities and follow the traffic regulations to ensure the smooth conduct of the festival.

Restrictions on Heavy Vehicles

Vehicles from Sukrawarpettai Road towards Raja Street via Thiyagi Kumaran Street will not be permitted. Heavy and goods vehicles will also be restricted from entering the city limits from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Additionally, parking of any vehicles will be strictly prohibited from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Raja Street, Oppanakara Street, Vysial Street, and K.G. Street, where the car festival procession will take place.
