Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, in association with Renewable Cogen Globe – EECC (RCG-EECC), organised a two-day in-person workshop on “Worldwide Carbon Markets and Emerging Opportunities” recently at AEC&RI, TNAU, Coimbatore.
The workshop was designed to provide participants with a comprehensive introduction to climate change, greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, and carbon market mechanisms, while also highlighting emerging career and business prospects in the sustainability sector.
The workshop was presided over by Rajkumar, Dean (Agrl. Engg.), who addressed the gathering with Presidential address, underscoring the importance of carbon markets and sustainability-oriented innovation in shaping future engineering professionals.
The technical sessions were delivered by distinguished experts RCG-EECC, Chennai.
Balasankari Palghat Krishnan, Chief Executive Officer, shared deep insights into global carbon markets and climate policy. Srinivasagam Ramesh, Senior Project Manager, led sessions on GHG accounting principles, emission reduction methodologies, and market frameworks.
Rajarajeshwari, Senior Project Manager, engaged participants with practical perspectives on climate mitigation strategies and sustainability assessments.
Day 1 focused on Climate Change & GHG Accounting, featuring sessions on climate governance, sustainability assessments, principles of GHG accounting, and hands-on exposure to GHG estimation tools.
Day 2 covered Carbon Market Mechanisms & Opportunities, including emission reduction methodologies, global carbon market developments, case studies, and the Indian context.
The interactive format, incorporating activity sessions and expert interactions, enabled participants to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.
The workshop witnessed participation from students, research scholars, and working professionals, who benefited from valuable career guidance and enhanced awareness of opportunities in carbon markets and climate-related domains.
The programme concluded with positive feedback from participants, underscoring the relevance and practical value of the workshop.
