The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Coimbatore, recently held its Fourth Governing Council meeting at Shree Bhagwan Mahaveer Gaushala.
After the meeting, Eswarasamy, Member of Parliament for the Pollachi Constituency, addressed the gathering.
Rajesh B Lund, President of ICCI, while welcoming the MP, requested him to address certain infrastructure needs.
The Chamber also submitted a brief memorandum seeking the MP’s support for the speedy completion of the Coimbatore International Airport Expansion Project, specific railway requirements, and the swift implementation of the Western Bypass Road, Eastern Bypass Road, and the Coimbatore to Karun Expressway.
In response to the requests, Eswarasamy assured that he would raise the issues during the Parliamentary session and take the necessary actions. Regarding the L&T Bypass Road, he mentioned plans to convert it into either a four-lane or six-lane road, with completion expected shortly. Additionally, he informed that work on the Western and Eastern Bypass Roads would begin soon and be completed as quickly as possible.
On the Coimbatore International Airport expansion project, he confirmed that progress was advancing rapidly, with the Tamil Nadu Government having approved land acquisition. He also noted that many international flights would soon be introduced, which would boost the region’s economy.
The Minister further mentioned that the Government would soon obtain approval for the construction of a bridge at Marappalam to alleviate traffic congestion.
Regarding Railways, in response to a query about including Pollachi Railway Station under the Salem or Madurai Railway Division, he assured that necessary steps would be taken with the relevant authorities.
He concluded by assuring the gathering that all the issues in the memorandum would be addressed with the concerned authorities.
Members of the Pollachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with AV Varadharajan, Nandakumar, and Sriramulu, past members of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, were also present.
