A new book titled “Manithan Udamballa”, authored by Sahitya Akademi award-winning writer Palani. Krishnasamy, was officially released on 25th July 2025 at the Coimbatore Book Festival, held at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex.
The book was launched by renowned Tamil poet Sirpi Balasubramaniam, who addressed a gathering of enthusiastic readers, including long-time followers of Palani. Krishnasamy’s work as well as visitors to the book fair.
Speaking at the launch, Sirpi Balasubramaniam described the author as a meticulous researcher, particularly on the life and works of the great Tamil literary figure Periyasamy Thooran.
He remarked, “Periyasamy Thooran was an eminent personality of the 20th century—one whom the Tamil community must know, remember, and cherish. He was a distinguished poet, short story writer, compiler of children’s cultural encyclopedias, folk literature enthusiast, promoter of Tamil music, educator, magazine editor, and progressive thinker—a truly multi-faceted individual.”
Referring to the book, he added, “Palani. Krishnasamy’s latest work is an in-depth study of Thooran’s complete literary contributions. It is a significant addition to Tamil literary research.”
Addressing the audience, author Palani. Krishnasamy shared his motivation behind writing the book:
“There is now a growing discourse that Tamil civilization stands on par with the great civilizations of the world. But for the world to believe that, we must write more, speak more, and present numerous examples. That responsibility should not rest on individuals alone—it must be embraced collectively as a society. It is this sense of collective duty that inspired me to write this book.”
