Nine students trained by the Isha Foundation secured prizes across multiple age categories in the Coimbatore district-level chess tournament, organised by the Avane Chess Association on 22nd November 2025 at Sri Saraswathi Thiagaraja College.
The competitions were conducted for both boys and girls in various age groups. A total of 27 students trained under the Isha Foundation’s rural outreach initiative participated, with nine emerging as prize winners.

In the Under-7 category, Ezhilmathi and Samyuktha from Madhwarayapuram won top positions. In the Under-15 category, Sathya from a tribal village, along with Jayasurya, Pranish, Nandana, Nandita, and Pranitha from the Pooluvapatti region, secured prizes.
These students were trained by Swami Tathya, a monk at the Isha Yoga Center, who has been actively coaching children from nearby rural and tribal areas in chess.
The Isha Foundation continues to provide support, training, and guidance to help these students participate confidently in district- and state-level competitions.
This victory marked a proud moment for rural and tribal communities around the Isha Yoga Center.
