Doctors at Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital have successfully performed a complex Reverse Shoulder Replacement Surgery on a 72-year-old patient, significantly improving his quality of life.

Dr. Dinesh Chidambaram, Orthopedic Surgeon at the hospital, performed the surgery.

The patient had been suffering from severe shoulder pain and restricted mobility for more than seven months, which made even routine daily activities extremely difficult. Due to an irreparable rotator cuff tear, reverse shoulder replacement surgery was identified as the most suitable treatment option.

Following the procedure, the patient has shown remarkable improvement. His range of motion has increased considerably, and he is now able to perform daily activities independently.

“This successful surgery has given the patient a new lease on life,” said Dr. Dinesh Chidambaram. “We are delighted to see him enjoying an active life once again with his family.”

Dr. K. Madeswaran, Chairman and Managing Director of the hospital, stated that this modern surgical technique is especially beneficial for elderly and high-risk patients, as it offers a safer and simpler alternative to conventional shoulder surgeries. He added that the procedure is an effective solution for patients suffering from long-term shoulder pain and restricted movement.

The hospital’s multidisciplinary team at the Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation offers services across all specialties using state-of-the-art equipment. The institute provides advanced pain management modalities, an advanced neuro-rehabilitation centre, Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS), pelvic floor rehabilitation, and other specialised services.
