Marking the Endometriosis Awareness Month, Rao Hospital hosted the second edition of a 5 Km walkathon under the name ‘Endo March’ recently.

The walkathon began in front of Rao Hospital, passing through DB Road, Sukrawarpet Junction, Gandhi Park, Thadagam Road, and Periyaswami Road West before concluding at Rao Hospital.

This significant event marked not only the awareness initiative for Endometriosis but also the second anniversary of the hospital’s dedicated center for Endometriosis – Foundation for Endometriosis and Menstrual Disorders (FEM-I).

Over the past two years, FEM-I has successfully carried out more than 100 surgeries under the expertise of Dr. Damodar Rao, Sr. Consultant, Fertility & Gynaec Laparoscopy Surgeon, significantly raising awareness and making a positive impact on the lives of numerous women.

The Chief Guest, Ranganayaki, in her speech, emphasized the importance of supporting women’s health and spreading awareness on Endometriosis.

The day also included an insightful Endometriosis awareness talk, which helped shed light on the challenges faced by women living with this condition.

In addition, an Award Ceremony was held to recognize and honour outstanding women for their contributions across various fields, including healthcare, education, and social service.

The ceremony celebrated women’s incredible impact on society and further motivated others to continue advocating for women’s health and empowerment.

Dr. Asha Rao shared her thoughts on the significance of Endometriosis awareness: “Endometriosis is a condition that affects millions of women worldwide, yet many suffer in silence. At Rao Hospital, we are committed to supporting women by raising awareness, offering specialized care through our FEM-I centre, and ensuring that women have access to the best treatment options.

We believe that by empowering women with knowledge and providing the right treatment, we can reduce the impact of this condition on their lives.”

With more than 750 free registrations, including medical professionals and the general public from all walks of life, the event was a resounding success. Participants enjoyed the walkathon, receiving special t-shirts, finisher medals, and certificates of participation.

“Rao Hospital continues to be at the forefront of women’s healthcare, supporting initiatives like EndoMarch 2025 and providing the necessary resources to ensure that women with Endometriosis receive the attention and care they deserve,” said the hospital.
