The students of Sri Ramakrishna Central School, Avarampalayam, named Abiruthra of Grade IX and Agash of Grade XII, have been honoured by the Government of Tamil Nadu with cash incentives of ₹10,50,000 and ₹3,00,000, respectively.
This recognition was awarded for their exceptional achievements in the National-level Wushu Championships.
The award ceremony was held on 26th September 2025 at Kalaivanar Arangam, Chennai, where Udhayanidhi Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister, presented the awards.
What is Wushu?
Wushu is a modern term for Chinese martial arts. It includes a variety of fighting styles, techniques, and routines—both traditional and contemporary, and is practised as a sport, with competitions involving forms (patterns of movements) and sparring. It is often practised as a competitive sport worldwide.
