PSG College of Nursing organised an international conference on “Innovative Holistic Health: Integrating Traditional Therapies” today, January 3, 2026.

In connection with the conference, a press meeting was held today. Sudha Ramalingam, Director of Research and Innovation, PSG IMSR; Jaya Deepa, Principal of the college; Dr. Sreerenjini, Head, Department of Obstetric and Gynaecology Nursing; and Vikasini, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing, detailed the press and media about the conference.

The conference brought together nurses, physicians, allied health professionals, academicians, researchers, students, and traditional medicine practitioners.

It aimed to highlight the growing global emphasis on holistic well-being and the renewed importance of traditional healing systems such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Siddha, Homeopathy, and indigenous community-based health practices.

By integrating these time-tested therapies with modern scientific approaches, the event emphasised the potential for more comprehensive, patient-centred models of healthcare.

The conference was inaugurated by Jaya Deepa, who delivered the opening session on “The Science of Holistic Health: Evidence, Evolution and Future Directions.”

Key scientific sessions featured distinguished speakers. Dr. Gopichandran, Assistant Professor and Consultant in Neuro Nursing at NIMHANS, Bengaluru, presented on digital therapeutics and remote monitoring.

Dr. Anitha Saravanan from Northern Illinois University, USA, spoke on cross-continental approaches to traditional and digital healing systems.

Dr. Ragavendra, Consultant and Clinical Head, AVP Research Foundation, addressed evidence-based traditional systems such as Ayurveda, Siddha, and Homeopathy.

Dr. Ajitha Porkodi, Integrative Medicine Doctor and Pathologist from MMKV Health Care, Chennai, and Dr. Saritha, Senior Clinical Embryologist, PSG IMSR&H, Coimbatore, also shared their insights.

International expertise was brought in by Marielle Rachel Schmied, Faculty, HESAV, Switzerland, who delivered a session on European approaches to digital and traditional healing.

A special session on mind-body medicine was led by Dr. Subashini Mohan, Senior Naturopathy and Yoga Physician, PSG Hospitals.

A panel discussion on the theme “Conventional Medicine to Complementary Medicine” was moderated by Dr. Bhuvaneshwaran, Director, PSG Super Specialty Hospitals.

Panel members included Dr. Sudha Ramalingam, Director of Research and Innovation, PSG IMSR; Dr. Dinesh Narasimman, Unit Chief, Department of Medicine, PSG IMSR&H; Dr. Sruthi Nanjundappan, Consultant, Gynecologic Oncology, PSG Institute of Oncology; and Dr. Ajitha Porkodi.

Sessions on complementary therapies were led by Dr. Vikramkumar, Assistant Medical Officer (Siddha), Government PHC, Tirupattur; Dr. Dhilip, Principal and Chief Medical Officer, JSS Institute of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, Coimbatore; Dr. Karthikeyan Shanmugam, Professor, Department of Community Medicine, PSG IMS&R; and Dr. Menaga, Founder, Nivaaran Holistic Wellness Centre, Chennai.

Topics such as ethics in integrative practice, holistic health education, and quality assurance in traditional healing systems were discussed in detail.

A poster competition on “Holistic Health in 2035: Tradition in the Digital Era” was also organised to encourage research contributions from faculty members, students, and healthcare professionals. Around 700 delegates from various disciplines attended and benefited from the conference.

The conference served as a platform for networking, academic exchange, and collaborative planning for future integrative health initiatives. The event concluded with a valedictory ceremony, certificate distribution.
